Nada me importas, país! seja meu amo
O Carlos ou o Zé da T’resa…. Amigos,
Que desgraça nascer em Portugal!
Coimbra, 1889.

In a certain kingdom, around the corner from the planet,
Where my grandparents, my parents were born,
There are four chandeliers, a poet saw the light
How much better it was never to see her.
It was barely emerging for restless life,
Right at birth, they killed his ideals,
To false faith, in abject treachery,
Like the bad guys on the real roads!
And although I am a descendant, a branch
Of this tree of heroes who, among dangers
And war, they strove for the ideal:
I don’t care, country! be my master
Carlos or Zé da T’resa…. Friends,
What a disgrace to be born in Portugal!
Coimbra, 1889.
